Aberdare Power Cables has announced a R3 million sponsorship that will carry the team until 2010. The team is currently sitting at the top of the Mvela Golden League coastal stream, carrying the hopes of the province on its shoulders.

Poll: RDU better than most airports
Raleigh-Durham International Airport could use a little work, but it's still better than most places to fly. Or at least that was the prevailing theme in Triangle Business Journal's latest online, unscientific poll. From Feb. 27 to March 4, visitors to TBJ's Web site were asked, "How does your experience at RDU stack up?" Of the 358 people who responded, 188, or 53 percent, said "it's better than most." Another 126, or 35 percent, said "it's in the middle of the pack." Some 21 voters, or 6 percent, said it's the best airport they've ever flown out of. Another 18, or 5 percent, said "it's worse than most." Just 5 voters, or 1 percent, said RDU is the worst airport they've ever flown out of. Commenters on the poll had a litany of accolades and complaints for the airport, which plans to open a renovated Terminal C soon; it has also talked about major renovations at its other terminal, Terminal A.

It failed.</p><p>Then Fidel gave up smoking.</p><p>There was another story -- unsubstantiated, as are most of these plots. According to this one, the CIA tried to put itching powder in his famous beard. The idea was to drive him mad thus rendering him incapacitated and incapable of running the Communist country. He then could be overthrown from within, prison doors would be thrust open, the presses would resume, and democracy would flourish.</p><p>Close but no cigar.</p><p>That's what you get when you send a bunch of high school pranksters to overthrow a government and kill its unelected leader.

Killer to serve at least 38 years
A man has been ordered to serve at least 38 years for the sadistic murder of a family-of-three who were bludgeoned to death with a hammer. Pierre Williams, 33, of Selly Oak, Birmingham, was given three life sentences for killing former girlfriend Beverley Samuels, 36, her daughter Kesha Wizzart, 18, and son Fred Wizzart, 13, at their home in Manchester on July 12 last year. Judge Mr Justice Christopher Pitchford said: "Pierre Williams is a man with a low threshold for sexual frustration. "Just as he had in the past with a previous girlfriend, he took out his frustration by treating Beverley and her daughter with gross sexual aggression. "Only he can know what terror and pain he inflicted upon them before they died." The family were beaten to death with a 2lb engineer's hammer and Mrs Samuels and Kesha - a former Young Stars In Their Eyes contestant - were sexually assaulted.

Woman testifies against ex-Peru military officers about massacre
It happened in the midst of a civil war in Peru between the government and the Shining Path guerrilla group. Rondon's unit blocked an escape route in a village in the Andean highlands while Hurtado's men searched from house to house, according to court documents. Ultimately, dozens of people were forced into two buildings and Hurtado's soldiers opened fire on them, the lawsuit alleges. The suit was filed under the U.S. Alien Tort Statute and Torture Victim Protection Act, which allows non-U.S. citizens to bring to courts cases of international law violations if the accused lives or has assets in the United States. Hurtado came to the U.S. in 2002 and recently served a six-month sentence in a Miami federal prison for lying to U.S. officials to obtain a visa. He remains in federal custody pending deportation proceedings.
