For U, four goals and a win is a start

Gophers coach Don Lucia has coached for 21 seasons at Alaska Fairbanks, Colorado College and Minnesota. Never had one of his teams gone through a scoring slump as bad as this team has endured recently: 10 goals in the past eight games.

It had to end sometime. And Friday it did, at least for one night.

Minnesota, which had scored a conference-low 44 goals entering Friday, scored four goals, including two in the second period, to beat Wisconsin 4-2 at Mariucci Arena. The Gophers' last four-goal game was a 4-4 tie at St. Cloud State on Jan. 12.

"You could tell who the desperate team was," Badgers coach Mike Eaves said. "We did not wake up until the third period."

The Gophers were well-rested, too, after a week off during which they slipped two spots to ninth place in the WCHA.

Tacoma jury finds Waters guilty on two counts of arson

TACOMA, Wash. -- A federal jury has found a woman guilty of two counts of arson for being the lookout in the 2001 burning of the University of Washington's Center for Urban Horticulture by members of the radical Earth Liberation Front.

U.S. District Judge Franklin Burgess declared the jury deadlocked on three other counts Thursday against Briana Waters, including conspiracy, possessing an unregistered destructive device and, the most significant count, using a destructive device during a crime of violence. The final charge would have carried a mandatory minimum of 30 years in prison.

First Assistant U.S. Attorney Mark Bartlett said his office would decide within a week whether to retry her on the deadlocked counts.

"She was an integral part of one of the most significant arsons ever to occur in this district," Bartlett said in court Thursday.

Democrats duel, then McCain pounces

Now, the economy is in recession, we don't have any buffer zone to absorb the kind of mistake that a rookie president makes in the first two years! We need somebody who knows how to turn around a bad situation into opportunities, and that the Clintons!

The Clinton's scandals do not make families loose their sons/daughters to a war, to loose their house or their jobs. Their policies are more right than wrong when they left us with a strong economy. I am not looking for a perfect score on every policy, I am looking for 'more right than wrong' and that they are willing to go back and fix things. We saw how Hillary turned her defeat with her first attempt at health care into giving us the health care for children; Nafta is good for some and not for others, so she will fix it too.
